Hello and goodbye!

I expected this entire week to be an email wasteland. It is not. (I have been offered six assignments since yesterday!) So here I am lobbing one more email at you to wish you a happy Independence Day week and say ta-ta until later in the month. I’m heading to Japan with my family on Friday and I expect to be back at my desk — blearily — on July 18.

I am a baby when it comes to jetlag, but given my robust slate of assignments coming up, there may be no rest for the weary when I get back. To that end, please see below for a couple of new calls for pitches for Travel + Leisure stories so I can hit the ground running.

How’s everyone liking SOS?

I tried my first post on SOS recently and got just one response but it was top quality and just what I needed to round out a story — so it was well worth doing. Curious to know what everyone thinks.

I also wanted to share my experience with Press Pulse.AI, because I think it can be super helpful for streamlining the whole process of responding to pitches — whether they’re from SOS or Connectively or wherever writers are calling for pitches.

Press Pulse uses AI to aggregate all the calls for pitches relevant to you across multiple platforms and then sends them right to you in an email digest form (as frequently as you want). Here’s one an example of what mine looks like:

• For Travel + Leisure, I’m rounding up the best hotels in Rio de Janeiro. Along with any pitches, please include these key specifications. (It will streamline the reporting process if I end up selecting the property for inclusion):

  • Neighborhood

  • Accessibility (any relevant details about accessible rooms and property features, in very brief)
