In nearly all of my newsletters, I call for pitches based on all the new stories I’m working on at that moment. Sometimes, I get a trickle of responses. And sometimes, I get an avalanche. Most of the time, I can anticipate when the latter will happen. (And I sometimes make a cheeky note like “bracing for inbox impact.”)

Today, I’m going through approximately 500 zillion pitches for a Mother’s Day gift guide (actually about 150), and it once again reminds me of an important lesson.

It’s the hack I want to share with you today because I know it can really help publicists drive results for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduation season, and all the rest of the annual angles — starting right now.
