So we’re over a week into the unofficial start of summer. How’s yours going so far?
I made a summer bucket list to make sure I’m wringing the juice out of my very favorite season. (This is similar to my traditional December vision-boarding exercise for big-picture goals, but more fun and less cerebral.)
It involves midway games at the Santa Monica pier, Friday nights at the cheesy (ahem) pizzeria arcade down the street, and free jazz at Lacma on Friday nights with a boozy picnic. (Paid subscribers already know that I am approaching my season with great intentionality and a work-life strategy — upgrade your subscription to read about it.)
Yes, I have travel on the books, and already knocked out the first summer minibreak in Palm Springs this weekend, at the magical, secret-garden-esque Casa Cody. Dreamy.
What have you got planned for the coming months, professionally and personally? Let’s make this summer count!
Tools you need 🚨
Remember I’m offering paid subscribers one-on-one calls in lieu of group Zooms to start out! Paid subscribers, email me to get your call on the calendar.

I’m obsessed with the game-changing platform Otter.ai. I use it to both record interviews and also to transcribe them in real time. You can also use it to record/transcribe any type of meeting — so anyone who missed it can easily access the Cliff’s Notes version. There’s a pro plan for agencies/companies with a ton of neat features. Check out Otter.ai here.
Open press opportunities
For VeryWell Family, I’m working on a roundup of the best kids’ luggage. To that end I’m looking for an expert (ideally a pediatrician or similar) to offer comments: Ask about what age kids can be expected to carry their own things and what a good ratio of child size to weight they should be carrying (or rolling)? What are the possible benefits to a child of being given some responsibility for their own things?
For Homelight, I’m looking for a real estate title professional (only) to discuss what can go wrong at closing.

My friend Lola Wood is out with her newest book in the series based on her sons: The “Adventures With Hendrix & Lenox” coloring book is super fun for keeping kids busy on planes, trains, and automobiles this summer. It’s packed with lively Black history and culture themes, as well as travel inspo. (Shop small and support Black-owned biz!)
