Today in bizarre facts: Los Angeles has seen double the rain that Seattle has seen this year, and we’re not done yet. My front lawn looks like some kind of Scottish pasture. Now I’ve definitely seen everything.

In other news, Los Angeles Unified School District — the nation’s second largest — will almost certainly close for three days beginning tomorrow, as the union representing such workers as bus drivers and cafeteria staff goes out on strike, and the 30,000 teachers join in support. Thus my children will be out of school again (remember that time we were out of school for 400 days due to covid?). We roll with the punches, amiright? Working parents, I see you!

• I’m obsessed with the game-changing platform Otter.ai. I use it to both record interviews and also to transcribe them in real time. Open press opportunities

• For Travel + Leisure, I’m working on a roundup of the best comfy rain boots. They must be available for sale on Amazon.

• For Travel + Leisure, I’m still working on a roundup of the best dresses under $50 that make packing for travel a breeze. This is for an audience of moms, so would be glad to call out features related to nursing, etc.

• For Woman’s Day, the roundup of anniversary gifts for women is still open. These should all be available from our preferred affiliate partners, which include the big players — Amazon, the major department stores, etc. (I’m afraid most small brands’ own e-comm platforms won’t work for this.) Especially looking for gifts from BIPOC-led brands, with a sweet spot around $50 for the price point.
