This time of year, saccharine expressions of gratitude are a dime a dozen. So let me just toss my professional thanks onto the pile.
I’m so grateful for this self-employed, freelance life, which I truly love and which also allows me to be both a human and a professional simultaneously.
I’m thankful that, for all of the absolute madness of the last couple of years, work remains abundant, varied, lucrative, and rewarding. (I get to learn something new almost every day — how great is that?)
I’m so thankful for the experiential and travel opportunities this work provides, which together round out a full and extraordinary life.
I’m so grateful for smart and warm friends and colleagues, who have inspired me over the years with business-building ideas (like hey, this newsletter!) and have extended their hands to lift me up and support me. (I can’t recommend being laid off, as I was in 2019, but it’s a great way to learn who your friends are as you dust yourself off!)
I’m thankful for kind, patient, responsive, and smart editors and clients who value my work and tell me so.
I’m so grateful for publicists who have become friends, confidantes, and valued partners over decades (!) as parallel players in a fast-changing business.
Thank you — each and every one of you — for your friendship, support, sincerity, loyalty, understanding, and good humor. Thank you for helping me share your stories and for being a part of mine.
Enjoy this week with your loved ones. Relax and recharge. Buy yourself something nice. (You deserve it.)
Happy Thanksgiving!
