This is the one pitch I can't ignore (even if I want to)

Recently, I wrote about the one pitch I always delete immediately. For balance, it seems only fair that I should also cover the one type of pitch that always gets my attention (even if I’m slammed and I’d rather just ignore it).

I get hundreds of pitch emails per day. And some of them are actually rather easy to ignore — for instance, if the subject matter is completely irrelevant to my beats, or if I find the approach downright offensive. (Remind me to tell you about the pitch pegged to the Covid vaccine rollout along the lines of, “Did you get fat during quarantine and now you’re worried the vaccine will ease lockdowns because you’re not cute enough to see people? Your readers will want to know about this miracle thing that will make you skinny enough to go into the world again!”) 

Others I’ll file away and maybe get a chance to look at down the road. But the one category of pitch that I always respond to is:
