Well, this is a strange day indeed. California is experiencing a massive storm, part of which is currently parked right over Los Angeles and dropping a ton of rain. The school district has remained open, but we made a game-time decision not to send our kids across town on the school bus this morning, given treacherous road conditions. So it’s a home-schooling Monday while I work from home. (And this all depends on my power staying on, so I’ll cross my fingers.) I hope everyone else affected stays safe and dry!
Back to business. I am so pleased with the enthusiastic response to my upcoming Zoom workshop: “After HARO, What Comes Next? All the Intel and Options You Need to Know Now.”
It’s very clear to me that this is an industry-wide pain point and I know the discussion will be invaluable. I’m lining up a roster of speakers to include representatives from various sourcing/pitching platforms as well as super-users with unique insights.

HARO alternatives
HARO once cornered the market on connecting writers and PR pros; now Cision is in the process of rebranding the platform as Connectively. But there’s widespread confusion about where that transition stands — and opportunities are being lost in the gap.
At the same time, various other existing and emerging platforms aim to grab market share by facilitating the same sort of connections effectively, including Qwoted, PressHook, PressPulse.AI, Rolli.AI, and Substack.

Tools of the Trade
Jennifer Goforth Gregory launched a course that I consider essential continuing ed right now: “Improve Your Productivity With AI Tools.” The course is geared toward not only understanding the fundamentals of AI for business writing but also knowing how to use it to actually make your job easier. You also get access to a live monthly Q&A so I consider this a great bargain at $125 (and it’s a write-off, to boot). I learned so much from it.
